ROUND
TIER PEW BOW
Estimated time per bow: 10-15 minutes
Estimated tulle per bow: 20 feet
Materials needed: 6" width tulle, ruler/yardstick,
floral wire, floral tape, scissors, additional decorations of
your choice |
|
1. Cut a 10 inch piece of floral wire. Measure an 18 inch
strand of tulle and pinch it. This 18 inch mark will now be called
the "centerpoint." Do not cut anything from the roll
yet! Make the first loop (using about 10 inches of tulle) and
pinch it with the centerpoint. Wrap the floral wire tightly around
the pinched tulle two times. |
|
2. Now make an identical loop right next to the first
one. Wrap the floral wire tightly around the base of this loop
one and one half times. The base of the loop should be as close
to the centerpoint as possible. |
|
3. Continue making identical loops next to each other
until you have completed a full circle of loops. The number of
loops will depend on the width of the tulle that you are using.
The pic has 5 loops using 6" tulle. |
|
4. Create a matching 18 inch strand and cut the tulle
from the roll. Do not trim the excess floral wire. |
|
5. Now it is time to create the lower tiers of the bow.
Cut a piece of floral wire that measures 10 inches. Cut 3 strands
of tulle that measure 44 inches each. Fold them in half to discover
the centerpoint and pinch it. Wrap one end of the floral wire
tightly around the centerpoint 5 or 6 times. |
|
6. Bring the centerpoint of this tulle directly behind
the centerpoint of the bow and twist the remaining floral wire
together. Fashion the remaining floral wire into a downward "hook"
for attaching the bow to the pews. The hook should measure 3-4
inches long. (Double up the wire if necessary.) Wrap a 6-inch
piece of floral tape around the hook to prevent the wire from
snagging the tulle. |
|
7. Now it's time to decorate! In the picture, I used wired
ribbon and ribbon roses to accentuate the center of the bow.
I stapled the center of the wired ribbon to hold all of the ribbon
loops in place. I then used a glue gun to first attach the ribbon
to the tulle bow, and then the ribbon roses to the wired ribbon
center. I also glued ribbon to the ends of the tulle strands
to bring attention to the tiers. Be creative and have fun! |
|
8. It is easy to make the loops of the bow look more full.
Just add one (2 extra loops) or two (4 extra loops) 44 inch strands
to the lower tier. Wrap the floral wire around the 4 or 5 strands
at the centerpoint. Using the 22 inch strands, make the extra
loops and trim the excess tulle. Connect the lower tiers and
the extra loops to the main bow. |
